AddThis recently highlighted some interesting findings on web sharing trends, by analyzing its five years’ (2006-2010) worth of data. While the data may not give the complete sharing picture, it’s still worth checking out considering AddThis claims to be the largest content sharing platform on the web, used by 10 million websites and reaches 1.2 billion users each month.
Maybe we can learn something from those findings, like how do people share content on the web? When do they share it? What are the most popular social media sharing sites? etc.
Below are some of the findings:
Top sharing times
- Peak hour: Peak sharing occurs at 9:30am EST (14:30 GMT) every day.
- Peak Day: Wednesdays are the peak days for sharing.

- Most users click 2 minutes after the content is shared.
- 75% of clicks occur within the first day of a share.
